| Many resources are available online to incorporate
the presidential election in your curriculum. Here are a few simple activities to
help students utilize technology and understand more about the election and the importance
of voting. Please visit the election links for many more lesson
resources. At Microsoft Classroom Teacher Network, MCTN, you can view ten
debate questions posed to the presidential candidates by educators across the
country. I had the fortunate opportunity of being one of the ten educators.
Read and see what the candidates state are key issues in education today.
Better yet, involve your students in this decision making process. |

Teachers can create a basic chart in Excel to gather information on a simple yes-no
question that students formulate. Students can see how easy it is to create a
simple graph with one of the function keys. |

Students
can answer many questions about decision making in the classroom. Here are a few
examples:

Word Lesson
(Creating a Table)
|
Upper grade students
can compare and contrast campaign issues using a template created in word. A table
or Venn diagram can be used depending on the outcome. Using the education election
debate linked below, paired students can select one question from the educator's debate
and compare and contrast the candidates answers. The extension activity is a great
reinforcer and five minute activity for the end of the day. The
