Students can look all around them and see math. Math is everywhere. Using a digital camera students took pictures of images around the school that display multiplication. They then inserted their image into Excel and typed in their multiplication facts. The picturing math activity was extended using a text box to write about their multiplication picture.

Using a menu from a local restaurant, students can calculate just how much their meal is worth, using this spreadsheet. Two additional sheets calculate a fifteen and twenty percent tip.
