Do You Have A
Technology Enriched Classroom?
Are Your Lessons Technology Connected?
A technology enriched classroom is a classroom in which the teacher
provides technology connected lessons based on ideas and concepts that are being taught
and material that is of critical importance for the students to learn. Utilizing the
one or two workstations to deliver in a learning center approach a teacher can provide
activities for students to learn new concepts, practice skills, cooperate and
collaborate with each other to complete a project, or research and locate information to
incorporate into to an assignment.
A technology enriched classroom will be the standard for the new century not just a
passing fad. Teacher staff development training has been bit by bit in the
elementary setting teaching isolated software applications. In order to take more
bytes out of the curriculum and really develop technology connection skills, training is
being redefined for those that want to embrace technology and establish a techno-enriched
classroom. A few sessions have changed for November to reflect this emphasis.
Please take the time to complete the quick survey below so that sessions for the winter
months can be designed for continuous technology progess for the year 2000!

Our Media Specialist play a major role in the technology connection.
Their jobs are evolving and changing as the media center becomes the technology hub for
our schools. Look at just a few of the things they are doing!
Midway's Becky Lee has been very busy taking digital
snapshots of every student at Midway with our Sony Mavica. She has saved these
photos on disks for teachers to utilize in technology connected publications.
Vickery Creek's Pat Wall has been very busy teaching
staff members how to make their own Accelerated Reader tests for titles of books that are
not included in the school's AR collection.
We applaud their hard work! |

Template Ideas for November
1. Locate this template (copia.bmp) on the L:
drive in the kptemp folder under language arts.
2. Instruct students to use the stamp tool to stamp items they are thankful for.
3. Use the copia2.bmp if you would like your older students to use the typewriter
tool to write about things they are thankful for.

Another great template idea is using the word THANKSGIVING to make an acrostic! |

A Kid Pix Graphic Organizer
This graphic organizer is located on the student L:/share
drive. It is a great way for students to use a template to organize their thoughts
for writing a short paragraph. Text or stamps can be used to get those creative
juices flowing!
To locate this template, go to the L: drive and look in kptemps. It is located in
the organizer folder and is named m_detail.bmp!
Create your own graphic organizer using the oval or rectangle tools. |
