K. I. S. S.
Keep It Simple S-----! (or we should say Keep it Simple Solutions!
Thomas Jefferson has been accredited to this way of thinking that applies
to many things we do everyday. Some suggestions for K.I.S.S. as it relates to
technology in the educational setting:
1) We should keep e-mails short and to the point. The recipient on
the other end will more likely read your message if it is simple.
2) We should take the time each morning to visit one site on the Internet that deals with
a daily message. Weather, history facts, word of the day trivia fact. Simple but informative
current information that is so useful can be found at many sites. Remember Online Today with
Classroom Connect is an excellent K.I.S.S. site.
3) Every week when you do a technology lesson, one tool, tip or trick
should be incorporated into the lesson. Keep it simple and allow the students time
to practice.
Practice K.I.S.S. It really works! |

WYSIWYG: What You See Is What You Get |

John Chamberlain, a new third grade teacher at
Vickery Creek, has put the morning announcements in the spotlight at Vickery Creek.
Fifth graders under Mr. Chamberlain's directions are broadcasting announcements
using many new features. News clips from local television news shows are
incorporated to highlight current events. Slideshows are featured with announcements
such as birthdays and lunch menus. Students are producing short commercials as well
as interesting interviews with school personnel to incorporate into the broadcast.
Mr. Chamberlain works very hard to prepare the young news reporters to keep it concise and
informative to begin every school day. Way to go Mr. Chamberlain and his awesome
news reporters!
