Description:
Students will create their own I Spy e-book using
pictures scanned in or taken with the digital camera. The images will
become a guide to writing sentences using adjectives to describe number
and color.
Procedure:

Share several I Spy Books with the class. Explain to the students how
they are going to create their own book using manipulatives from the
classroom and other small objects.
- Assistant
students in arranging objects for pictures on a table. Using a camera
or digital camera, take pictures of several groupings.

Scan or load the pictures into the computer. You will need to Import
the pictures into individual slides.
- With
the rectangle tool, make a white rectangle at the bottom of each slide.
Instruct individual students on how to write I Spy picture riddles.
Let the students complete their riddles on a paper before they use the
keyboard tool to type their riddles.
- When
all slides are complete, insert them into slideshow and record the students
voices reading their slides. Be sure to include a creative title slide.
Extensions:
- Create
an I Spy Book using objects that correspond with a current theme of
study.
- Print
the individual slides to make an I Spy Book.
- Save
the slideshow on video tape for students to take home and share.
