Promethean Board Tips and Resources
Winter Holiday Backgrounds - Four Flipcharts Ready for the Holidays!

These single page flipcharts are great backgrounds to use for the holiday season. To make multiple pages using one of these backgrounds simply follow the directions below:

  • Right click the link below each flipchart
  • Select Save Target As
  • Navigate to a folder
  • Where it names the file bkg1.zip, change the .zip to .flp so it looks like this: bkg1.flp
  • Select Save
  • Open the flipchart in ACTIVstudio.
  • Double click on the page to open the Page Edit Toolbar.
  • Select duplicate page as shown by the hand below to create multiple pages with the same background.

 
Enabling Actions on the
Promethean Board

Action Objects are found in

Enabling actions allows you to define an action to an object or text. Actions include jumping to different pages within flipcharts, linking to another document or file, playing a sound clip or creating a link to a web page. Click here for directions on adding actions to your flipcharts.

Predefined actions are included in the Shared Images Resource Library. By just dragging these images to the flipchart, they will perform their action with just a click! These action objects are the very first item listed in the Shared Images folder. Some useful actions are show below.

   
Keyboard-This places a keyboard on your chart to easily access a keyboard. Pencil or Highlighter-Select these actions to add to a chart so you can hide the main toolbar!
Timer-For a timed page this is a convenient action.
Calculator -The calculator is a tool for a math flipchart.
Page Notes-This lets the viewer know that notes are available for more directives. Two icons are available from action objects.

Interactive Web Byte! The Christmas Price Index for 2005 from PNC
This year students can play an interactive game matching this year's prices with the items given during the Twelve Days of Christmas. Use the templates at last year's e-link to input this year's data into an Excel template.
   
 
Create a Mini Book or Card with PowerPoint
Use your board to share with your students and guide them in how to create a mini book or card in PowerPoint. After the students have completed the storyboard assist the first group at your workstations and then allow them to teach the other students with the each one, teach one management model.
