Shared Backgrounds?

One of the great features of the ACTIVboards is the capability of using different backgrounds! The whole board can be easily transformed by selecting one of these backgrounds from the second icon in the resource library shown above. You can even make one of your own backgrounds to use. What about a nice photo? You can easily add an area to annotate by drawing a box with the pencil tool and filling with white. Be creative and use these wonderful backgrounds in your flipcharts or pull one up on the fly to enter text!

Jennifer Schneider has created several flipcharts that hide images if they are not the correct answer. The trick is to place your wrong answers(images or text) on the flipchart first. Follow these easy steps to customize your own lesson.

  • place wrong answers on flipchart
  • create a box or circle to drag the correct answers. (fill the shape with white or another color with the fill tool)
  • add your correct answers to the flipchart
  • save your chart

When your students drag the incorrect answers they will disappear behind the correct answer box.

 

Here is an example from Jennifer's 5 Senses Flipchart.

  • Right click the link above
  • Select Save Target As
  • Navigate to a folder
  • Where it names the file 5senses.zip, change the .zip to .flp so it looks like this: 5senses.flp
  • Select Save
Shared Annotations!
Shared annotations in the Resource Library contains tables and grids that are very useful in creating organizational charts. You can duplicate the grids and change the appearances.

To create this table:

  • Drag the grids4.asp from shared annotations
  • Double click the grid to get the object edit toolbar.

  • Select the red x to open group properties.
  • Select appearance and change the table pen width and color as shown by the hands below.

  • Close group properties and select the duplicate tool on the object edit toolbar to duplicate the grid.
  • Move the second grid to align next to the first grid. Save your chart to use as a graphic organize.
