Kathy is currently an Instructional Technology Specialist for Forsyth County, mentoring new ITS in the district and supporting the district's vision for technology . Kathy has thirty-four years teaching experience in Forsyth County Schools. She previously taught at Midway Elementary as an Interrelated Resource teacher working with Learning Disability and Behavior Disorder children. During that time Kathy utilized technology to modify and enhance instruction to appeal to the different learning styles and ability levels in her resource room. Kathy was recognized for her skills at integrating technology in the curriculum and was named Forsyth County Teacher of the Year for 1995. From 1997-2007, Kathy worked as the Instructional Technology Specialist for Midway Elementary.

Kathy attended the University of Georgia and received her bachelor’s degree in the area of Exceptional Children. She earned her Master of Education degree at Georgia State University in the area of Interrelated Education. She presented at The Georgia Educational Technology Conference in Macon in 1998 and 1999 and at the Technology and Learning Conference in New York in 1998. In June 2000, she presented Excel in the Classroom is Elementary at the National Educational Computing Conference in Atlanta. During the Bush-Gore campaign she contributed to the Microsoft Classroom Teacher Network Campaign 2000 Online Education Debate. She recently participated in Promote Georgia 2003 as the coach for the Midway Promote Team. In March 2003, she was a featured speaker at the Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning Conference. She conducted a half day workshop at NECC 2007, in Atlanta utilizing Fireworks and Dreamweaver to post student work utilizing a web photo album.
